What this does: Records a Service or Leak Repair service event using the redesigned step-by-step service event wizard. It walks you from choosing the equipment through logging the repair, verifying the result, recording any gas that was moved, and gives a final review before you submit.
Before you start: You need an open work order with at least one eligible asset, and permission to create service events. This guide covers the desktop (web) experience.
Creating a Service or Leak Repair Service Event
Step 1. Start the service event. Open the work order and select Create Service Event.
Step 2. Enter Service — select the equipment and service details. Complete the entry page:
- Equipment Worked On (required) — type to search by asset name or serial number (minimum 1 character). Results are grouped Active (A–Z) → Inactive → Decommissioned, and each row shows refrigerant type, serial/tag, and operational status.
- Type of Service (required) — select Service or Leak Repair.
- Primary Technician (required) and Secondary Technician (optional) — type to search; shown as Last, First (username).
- Service Date (required) — click Today or pick from the calendar (future dates are not allowed). Reference Number is optional.
- Review the context that appears — selecting equipment reveals the System Information card, and a read-only Recent Leaks panel appears at the bottom.
Enter Service — Equipment Worked On, Type of Service, technician pickers, System Information card, and the Recent Leaks panel.
Step 3. Discovery — record what you found.
- Leak Detection Method (required) — defaults to the technician’s method; you can change it.
- Leak Found or Circuit Opened (required) — Yes / No buttons. Yes reveals Date Leak Found, Leak Location, Cause of Leak, and an optional Estimated Amount Leaked. Switching Yes → No clears those fields.
- Leak Location — one searchable field (minimum 3 characters), grouped by category A–Z. Cause of Leak is also searchable.

Step 4. Repair — record the work performed.
- Service Action (required), Parts Required (optional), and Repair Notes / Corrective Actions (required).
- Repair Status (required; appears when Leak Found = Yes) — choose Leak Repaired, Repair Attempted, or No Repair Attempted. Each option has guidance text, and this choice drives whether Verification is required.

Step 5. Verification — confirm the result.
- Leak Detection Method (required) and Verification Results (required) — Pass / Fail buttons. Choosing No Repair Attempted on the previous step marks verification not required.
- Was Gas Transferred? toggle (on by default) — leave it on to add a Gas Transaction step; turn it off to skip straight ahead. Turning it off after transfers are entered prompts a confirmation to clear them.

Step 6. Gas Transaction — record gas moved (only if Was Gas Transferred? is on).
- Add Transfer — select Add Transfer, then Recover Gas or Install Gas. Saved transfers list in a table with running Recovered and Installed totals and a per-row Edit / Delete.
Note: Over-capacity transfers are blocked, and a zero-transfer warning appears if you chose Yes but saved no transfers.

Step 7. Follow-up Verification — (only if the initial Verification result was Pass). Record the follow-up inspection date, leak repair status, leak detection method, and verification result (Pass / Fail).

Step 8. Completion — review and submit. A review page summarizes the event and validates required fields. Anything incomplete shows an Action Required card that jumps you back to that step, and only the steps you visited appear as cards. When everything looks right, select the Complete button to save.

Troubleshooting
- The verification step didn’t appear. If Repair Status is set to No Repair Attempted, verification is marked not required and the step is skipped by design.
- “Was Gas Transferred?” is on but I can’t continue. A zero-transfer warning shows when Yes is selected but no transfers are saved. Add at least one transfer, or turn the toggle off if no gas moved.
- My transfer is blocked. Over-capacity transfers are not allowed. Check the amount against the asset’s gas capacity (shown in the header) and adjust.
- I can’t pick a future Service Date. Future dates are not permitted. Choose Today or a past date.
- I turned off “Was Gas Transferred?” after adding transfers. You’ll get a confirmation prompt — confirming clears the transfers you entered.
